The G74 outperforms the Toshiba on almost all aspects, don't see the reason why you wouldn't buy the G74.

Just how much HDD space did u add?? The specs are kinda confusing... Cud u mention how much HDD space u added... Also how much RAM did u add??

And I hope u ve seen the MSI. It is a flashy laptop whereas the G74SX is a subtle laptop that does not seek attention in a group.

Tell us what is ur main purpose and we shall help or els post complete specs in here and tell us ur needs so that we may decide what wud be apt for u.

These details are what matter the most:
    Brand and model name
    CPU
    GPU
    RAM
Screen - Size, resolution and texture (matte/glossy)
    HDD
    Optical Drive (DVD burner/Blue Ray)
    Warranty
Accessories if any extra that are purchased separately

I would say Asus. Toshiba had some problems recently, while ASUS are more than fine.

If these are the only options you are considering then I shall suggest the MSI GT780DX since it has the best GPU among the choices you mentioned. The rest of the specs are more or less the same for all the laptops. The MSI is pretty sturdy and the build quality is pretty reliable. It is certainly the best choice among the mentioned but yes its a bit flashy but performance comes 1st.

Take a look into the Clevo/Sager laptops too. People recommended them to me over the Asus G74SX. When I look at reviews the Asus seems to run into a lot of keyboard/mousepad/monitor errors over time.

Of course I have no experience with either YET, so my it's just my 2 cents. Anyone else can throw their thoughts in too. I'm still kind of stuck between which one I want too!

Asus is a decent consumer entry level gamer. Sager, MSI and Alienware all offer superior alternatives. Compared to Toshiba? Asus is a superstar!
