Default What to buy: RUGGED, 14", <$700?

Title says it all. I'm not a gentle person and will be commuting with the laptop daily.

I actually bought a Lenovo E420 but when it arrived it was all plastic and NOT the computer pictured on Lenovo's webpage identified as an E420 (that one had metal hinges, which I like).

    Recommendations?

    Thanks in advance.

a dell latitude E6410 from the outlet, or a thinkpad T410 from the outlet

I would go for the e420s, but since you are with this dissapointing experience there should be another model like vostro line and the latitude e6420 (which can be found as low as 600 last time I saw), there are some probooks that start around that as well

lots of complaints about the new latitudes it seems, and $700 isnt exactly a big budget, so outlets will provide best value for money. the vostros are not very rugged, he'll have to go for thinkpad/latitude or maybe probook for that level of quality

A Latitude E-series from the outlet will work for what you need. If you really need something ruggedized the Latitude ATG line would be a good option.
