Re: HP Dv7t Quad edition
According to this:
http://www.shopping.hp.com/shopping/...arwarranty.pdf
HP is providing this PC with an additional year of coverage beyond the standard HP 1-year hardware
limited warranty. This additional year of warranty coverage is subject to the same terms and conditions of
the original 1-year hardware limited warranty that is included with your PC. This one-year extension is
valid only on computers purchased in the United States of America and Canada.
This computer includes the standard 1 year of limited software technical support.*
The notebook PC must be serviced in the United States of America or Canada. If outside the USA or
Canada, you may be required to pay for shipping this unit to the United States or Canada to receive this
service. This warranty applies to the notebook PC only.
How are you going to buy the computer is the question...
Your friend in America buy it and ship it to you? If that's the case you are fine.

Re: HP Dv7t Quad edition
O man.. then buying online is not possible, your friend would have to pay a small premium to buy it in a retail store. By doing that you are subjected to the store's warranty policy which varies from one retailer to the next.
Issue is buying online takes approx 3 week to a month, which is prone to unexpected delays. This method if executed perfectly can work, but the chance of everything going smoothly is pretty rare.
As the article stated above, it does cover your laptop, but you will have to ship it back to the states (you paying for shipping) when you want it fixed.

Re: HP Dv7t Quad edition
Great, just know that everything on retail is not the same as online, you will be paying extra or settle for last gen specs, EST. you will pay 300 extra than you would online.
Retailer charge an extra 30% more than online due to cost in:
Overhead
Rent
Employee salary
So the cost passes on to the consumer, while online does not.

Re: HP Dv7t Quad edition
uh oh...you actually mean $300 more? that totally SUCKS and brings my dreams to an end
pplus is it true that the retailers wouldnt have the laptop with the same specs as in the ones online? i mean, they do not provide those free upgrades to 8 gb RAM n would just have the normal 6 gb ones eh?

Re: HP Dv7t Quad edition
You get no deals on new computers in retails, if you want upgrades you pay extra for them. They will however have sales on computers that do not sell, so maybe grab a last gen computer for a bit off.
