Best gaming laptop sub 1k?

Yeah, I know the requirements are odd, but my parents are getting a computer for one of my relatives, and that's the price point. There are a couple over in the 15.6" range on xoticpc.com, which seems like the best bet for something passable, but what's the best you can do for 1k?
