Hope you enjoy it to the hilt! That Asus really sounds like a sweet purchase! We all are waiting for your personal review of this laptop- nobody has a good review of it till now! Be sure to run some games and a few benchmarks on it. Also, do try to get the temp readings!!! ;-) Happy hunting, bruv.

y560 series comes with many display problems...

    Google it!

buying y560 is risky! so, better to stay away from y560. isn't it?

Everything about this lappy is great, the si it should've had a esata/usb combo slot too.. I haven't ran much games, but I've played FIFA 2011 with all high settings and after about 3 hours of continuous gaming the temperature was ~65 C which I don't think is too much. The best thing I noticed is its cooling fan, very silent yet very powerful, it sometimes pumps out slightly hot air which you can feel even about a foot away, no wonder why the core temperature stays soo low. Even when watching HD movies the temperature of neither core goes above 50 C. On normal usage it's always between 35 and 45 C...!!!
I'm downloading CRYSIS (78% complete) as I'm writing this and will let you know about the performance and temperature within two days hopefully. The only cons are its inbuilt speakers and battery life, while playing games with power mode set to high performance, the battery lasts between 1.5hrs to 2 hrs max.
And when not playing games, on office mode and power saver mode it lasts well over 3hrs, entertainment mode will give around 2.5 hrs approx.

The windows Index rating is also kinda OK. Lowest rating is for RAM and HDD at 5.9, The other 3 ratings are 2 x (6.8) and 6.9 all ratings are outta 7.9 and not 10.

Be sure to slap the delivery guy left and right for bringing it so late!

The observations about the fan and noise levels are really noteworthy. Now, as Cyberster said, how does the input devices fare?

Played awhile with various configs in the Dell site with the XPS 15. And the grand total comes to- tada! 65 grand! You get worse gaming performance (than a system with an ATI 5650) for the price too. Great. Total vfm.

The Dell Online Store: Build Your System

Quite oddly, it makes sense for Dell loyalists and not too demanding gamers. They would be delighted with this. HD buffs will be mighty glad too. This model will sell well, methinks.
