    Default PC2700 dual channel?

I was wondering if the computer supports dual channel will it work with PC2700 ram? I've read in a couple places that PC3200 is the minium is that true?

No, I don't think so. even though dDDR technology come into play around the same time as DDR400. while DDR400 was still in the infantcy stage, it's unlikely that it will not work in DDR266 stage. I would guess it's more like a recommendation rather than a set stone.

    Hi Dagreek,
Dual-channel depends on if the chipset and motherboard architecture support it. The memory itself does not care or even know if it's being using in a dual-channle configuration. What you may have read could be like freeman sais, just a recommendation. That said most notebook chipsets & motherboard currently don't support dual-channel memory access.

Check in the BIOS, where you would enable it if you had it, or the notebook manufacturer's site. If you have dual channel, it would be advertised somewhere. I believe some sager's have it, and I think one of the high end HP's has it.

the Bios is useless it doesnt not have that info nor does HP's site, and CPU Z didnt list anything for the Mobo or the Memory.

I don't think any notebooks currently have Dual-Channel support yet. Check on Intel's website regarding the chipsets used in whatever notebook you're looking at/have and see if it supports Dual-Channel. Since it mainly comes down to the chipset to have this support.

That I would agree w/ you, but I won't bet any money on it. What about notebook w/ desktop CPU? Also, he didn't exactly say it's a notebook.

Actually, I believe the Sager 8790 supports dual-channel DDR:
