    Hi there,

You may want to fill out the FAQ. This would give us a better understanding of how to help you.

As I see you're looking for a 13" machine, have you considered the Sony Vaio Z?
    Sony Vaio Z Signature | i7 620 | 8 GB RAM | NVIDIA 330M | 512 GB SSD (4x128GB) | FHD | 13", 3lbs

    Dell SXPS1640 | T9550 | 4 GB RAM | ATI 3650 | 256 GB SSD

    Envy 15 | i7-820QM | 8 GB RAM | ATI Radeon 5830 | 320 GB SSD (2x160GB) returned, but would recommend

The ENVY13 is in need of an update. It's not worth ithe cost at the moment.

You really can't compare these two machines ... they are compeltely different. If you have any need for graphics capability, of the two, you are stuck with the Envy 13. If not, why pay extra money. First, you have to figure out what you want to use a notebook for, then you can figure out what model would be best for you. About the only thing these two have in common is a 13" display. Frankly, I don't like either. The Envy 13 was overpriced and underdesigned when it was released. Reviews indicate that it has heat/cooling issues. The Dell is also overpriced for what you get. It is thinness at any cost. I'm sure I'll get some disagreement about the Vostro.

Yep. I have been playing with Ubuntu for a couple of years, so I am "Fairly" comfortable. As for the Vaio X, I know its "inards" are superior, it feels cheap to me (personal preference). I thought the L13 was a good deal considering the SSD. I am not a gamer, but I like having a couple of YouTube videos open at any given time. My main concern with the L13 is battery life, something the Envy is okay with...but at $1150 more.

Please note, nobody said Vaio X. We're talking Vaio Z.

I had a HP Envy (15). I returned it for the Vaio Z. Better build quality, better overall specs, better battery...pretty much better everything. For what you're getting, the Z is *much* better, even at the basement level, than the Envy 13.

My bad...I meant Z. I played with one at the Sony store and Fry's. I may have to give it a second look.
