Re: AMD based laptop
There aren't alot of AMD laptops, even less if you want dedicated graphics.
Though, first, you should fill in the What to Buy FAQ, and post back the results!Alienware M11x - SU7300 / GT335m / 8gb DDR3 / 60gb Vertex II

The difference between Athlon and Turion processors is that the former is a desktop processor which will get worse battery life and compromise portability for the sake of power, and the latter is a notebook processor which will get better battery life but be edged out a bit on power.Dell XPS M1210 : T5600 | 120GB 5400 | 1GB PC-533 | nVidia GO 7400 [Motherboard Fried]

Re: AMD based laptop
Not really. The AMD Athlon is considerably faster than the Turion. Not that the Turion is any slouch.

Regardless, thanks for completing our FAQ. Very helpful.
Based on your reponses, I recommend the HP dv5000z. It's a good value, and has an excellent design, quality, runs cool, and has a good keyboard. Check out our review here:

Re: AMD based laptop
I can only think of having a dual-boot, but, even then, you don't boot both OSes simultaneously.
