Default Asus G51 or Dell XPS 1640

    basically

    This: Asus G51-RX05 refurbished

    or this: Dell XPS 1640

I'm an occasional gamer but not one with a lot of time-I'm in graduate school. So I'm looking for something that looks good, that can play a video game from this year if I decide to pick up call of duty or something, and at the same time I need it to be NOT CHEAP. For my last two laptops now I've been buying the cheapest budget HPs and they have turned out to be just junk. I need something that feels good and looks good and is under 900. If you've got other suggestions other than the above two, I'm open to them.

Thanks everyone, your opinion and help is much appreciated. I tried to do as much research as I can on my own but seriously I have no time to breath right now between finals and my internships and I've been out of the loop for a while now with laptops.

    thanks again

its also something like 400$ more-is the better screen resolution really worth it? Also, does anyone else think the asus one looks a little...i dunno..unprofessional?

You're not the only one. I was looking at similar laptops (Studio XPS 16, Envy 15, Vaio F, and the G51JX) and the major knocks that took the ASUS out of the running for me were the lack of reasonably priced SSD options and the very "gamer dude" look of the machine complete with blue graphix.

I'd go with the sXPS 1640 if those were my two choices.

Nice. I saw you went with the Envy. I'm also taking a look at that one too but both engaget and few other trusted reviewers have made a comment about it saying that it feels "cheap." as someone who owns a cheap HP at the moment, I'm looking for something that feels and looks like it costs alot of money-rather than something that like you said is "lolz blue graphix l337" and/or very plasticy...let me know how the envy works our for you...
