Default a hard decision:11.6 inch , atom N270+ion OR SU4100+4500MHD

lenovo U150:SU4100+4500MHD
or
hp mini 311: Atom N270+ion

I am sure ion is a lot better than 4500MHD, that means i can play 720p video, play WOW and other games smoothly.

I am also aware that SU4100 is a lot better than Atom N270, But what is that mean for daily usage? e.s surfing, youtube HD video, word.....

If it is going to be your main machine, then definitely get the SU4100 machine. If you already have a more powerful laptop or desktop system...well, then it is a little bit different.

But I would still get the SU4100.

You have to remember that a single core cpu isn't sufficient for flash hd(i.e. youtube hd) video.

Hi, thanks coldmack. But
Adobe has recently added the GPU support for flash, I do not know if it means that atom + ion will play youtube HD.

Another questions is, is SU4100+4500MHD sufficient for flash hd?

I can change my question to this one.
will a P4 2.4 + 6600gt computer be better than a SU4100+4500MHD?

BTW: i sometimes see 4500MHD, sometimes x4500. Is there a difference ?

4500MHD's benchmarks are absolutely terrible. Comparatively an ION netbook will game better than a CULV notebook with 4500MHD. But neither will do anything crazy.

An ION netbook will probably play WoW on low settings with decent framerates, but I doubt anything with a 4500MHD will be able to play it at all without severe low framerates.

In terms of games, graphics card is the most important part.

The SU4100 will perform better than the P4, but the 6600GT will perform better than the 4500MHD.

X4500 is a desktop version.

I'm pretty sure the 4500MHD could play WOW with lowest settings.

The 4500MHD with a dual-core ULV processor is capable of about 32-34fps on WOW (low settings).

Let me re-phrase that for you. Adobe will be adding GPU support for Flash supposedly for version 10.1. When that actually gets released, we don't know.

YouTube HD, HD from individual networks (Fox, ABC, etc), yes, pretty easily. Hulu, for some reason, is pretty contrary. I tried the HD version of Legend of the Seeker episode 1 in Firefox 3.5.3 and the dual-core CULV was almost capable of playing it back. I say almost because the framerate was noticeably low. Then again, I'm using somewhat aggresive power saving options so I'll have to test using "performance" options.

For gaming, no question, the ION is better. However, for media playback, the GS45 chipset is also capable of MPEG-2, H.264 and VC-1 hardware acceleration with a DXVA-capable player.

From what I have read in the past, apparently Flash doesn't run very well with FireFox. I'd be interested how it performs in another browser.
