Gaming laptop for under $600
I'm wondering if there's a laptop out there, for around $500 (changed my mind, ignore thread title), that will play most modern games.
My asus g1s has broken and i need something similar in quality to it. it had a 8600gt GPU and a core2 duo, but if asus repair costs are going to be around 400-500 im hoping I can find a notebook just as good as the g1s for around that price (being that the g1s is over 2 years old now)
Hope there's something out there
I'm in the USA, btwLast edited by llmercll; 17th October 2009 at 03:26 AM.

Re: Gaming laptop for under $600
That looks pretty awesome, but how many do they have? not many I'd assume if it's refurbished, unless they get a steady supply of them =p
anyway, that's pretty great, besides it being refurbished with a weak 90 day warranty. Any other types like this, or even with less power as long as it can play modern games for the price in the 600 area would be very welcome =)

Re: Gaming laptop for under $600
US$100 Mackcam 3yr global warranty (war1009) will get it sorted. Lots of stock. You're not going to get a unit with 3dmark06 > 8k for anything close to that total cost of US$790.

Re: Gaming laptop for under $600
Well it's def something I'll think about.
I'm getting my g1s diagnosed right now. say the repair costs would be $400-500. What do you think I should do then? If it's anything lower than that I'll just get it repaired, since I (don't think) I can get a notebook that compares to the g1s' power for under $400. But if it's up there in that price zone of 500$ it seems terrible for me to spend it just on repairs.
I'm sure nowadays I can find a computer for around $500 that can perform as well as the g1s does, no? (after thinking about it im looking for a g1s equivalent notebook for around $500)

I pretty much searched newegg for laptops WITHOUT the intel onboard memory. But i don't know how these cards stack up to an 8600gtm, as i don't know of anywhere with laptop vga benchmarks. You guys think these laptops can play modern games on low/med settings?Last edited by llmercll; 17th October 2009 at 02:31 PM.

Re: Gaming laptop for under $600
The HP has the best graphics of them all, but dont expect high-end gaming. Nowhere near the 8600M GT you had.
Perhaps a Lenovo Y550 refurbished with a GT130M can be had for that price, the GT130M is the overclocked version of the 9600M GT, which is the better version of the older 8600M GT.
Dont worry about it being refurb, Lenovo's refurbs are in mint condition, only that they may or may not have seen any usage. But they are reseted.
Hope this helps!

Re: Gaming laptop for under $600
Hmm thanks for the advice, I'll look into it as well...
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-...ist.844.0.html
I found this, and realized the three notebooks I linked ranked 120-130, while the G1s ranked 77. The refurb that nando posted on the other hand was rank 24....

Re: Gaming laptop for under $600
Get the Asus G50vt-X5. The video card is five times better than the 8600m and its easily the best buy for under 700.

Re: Gaming laptop for under $600
Yeah I'm seriously considering it. Anyone know how good this eritech international company is for providing warranties? are they well known/reputed?
