The Latitude E6400 is an excellent option to consider. I'd get one from the Dell outlet as there are many good deals there.

Whilst the E6400 is an excellent option it does top 5lbs configured with the 6-cell battery and normal HDD. If you equip it with the SSD and intel gfx it should be just about 5lbs.

I doubt you'll notice the weight difference really but just thought I'd point it out since you said less than 5lbs.

    It's an excellent machine though!

Agreed. In fact, Dell is the only manufacturer that comes very close to what the OP wants. Incidentally, Lenovo's might be ugly but they're durable. And that's more important with a business computer.

Yep, the Dell Latitude E6400 would be my first recommendation also!

The Dell Vostro 1320 might also be an option- it's a 13.3" model with a starting weight of 4.35lbs vs. 14.1" and 4.8lbs for the E6400 (both figures include 6-cell battery, DVD-RW and HD).

I would add HP Business 6530b or HP Elitebook 6930p. These can be had on ebay for under $800 with 3 year warranty.

The HP Elitebook 6930p has a starting weight of 5,3lbs so it's rather heavy once you configured it.
