Good portable laptop
General Questions
1) What is your budget?
-Less than $1000
2) What size notebook would you prefer?
-10"-11", preferrably 11" since 10" is kinda borderline
4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
a. Like:
b. Dislike:
5) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook?
-Surfing the web, homework, vids; just a small backup notebook
6) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places, leaving it on your desk or both?
-Taking to different places
7) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games or types of games?
-If I do, It'll only be old games since I have a bigger laptop for actual gaming. But more likely than not, I wont be gaming
8) How many hours of battery life do you need?
-Minimum of 4-5 hours of ACTUAL use, with (hopefully) an option to get a larger battery to extend the life even more
9) Would you prefer to see the notebooks you're considering before purchasing it or buying a notebook on-line without seeing it is OK?
-I'm okay either way
10) What OS do you prefer? Windows (XP or Vista), Mac OS, Linux, etc.
-Windows, but even if it's linux I'll make it windows myself
Screen Specifics
11) From the choices below, what screen resolutions would you prefer?
-I dont want that crappy netbook resolution of 1024x600; preferrably I'd want either 1280x768 or somethign else along these lines
12) Do you want a glossy/reflective screen or a matte/non-glossy screen?
-Doesnt matter
Build Quality and Design
13) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?
-Meh, if it looks good, yay. But if it fits my needs and doesnt look good, oh well I'll still buy it and use it everyday
14) When are you buying this laptop and how long do you want this laptop to last?
-Buying it anytime between now and end of august; need it as a backup laptop for uni
Notebook Components
15) How much hard drive space do you need; 80GB to 500GB? Do you want a SSD drive?
-Doesnt matter
16) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a CDRW/DVD-ROM, DVD Burner or Blu-Ray drive?
-Doesnt matter
Basically, I'm looking for a laptop/netbook that's 10-11" with full 1280 (or better) res, and a good battery life.
When the new aspire 751 was announced (the 11.6" one), i was content with it since it had full res, and supposedly an 8hour battery life; but it's not out yet so no reviews for it either =(
~btw, this is going to be my backup/portable notebook; my TZ got mauled by my friends dog :'( , and I'm most likely getting a vaio Z (for those who've read my other post), so yeah.
*I've posted this in the school forum, but it seems this one is more active than the other one
