    Hi all,
I have given up the idea of importing from US, the cost is too much.. I have been looking at Samsung UK laptops and even John said that they are quite good in an earlier post.

Please help in deciding among the two mentioned in this thread
    X22-A005 or R560.

If the Toshiba mentioned earlier is better than this, please tell how to get hold of it, specially when PCWORLd does not sell it any more and Toshiba insisting it does

    Bump!!!!
Called up Samsung India and they confirmed that since Samsung does not sell Notebooks in India, hence no service.. possibly taking to Singapore or Hongkong might work ..some global warranty.

Looks like I get hold of Toshiba somehow( they are there in India) or get a Dell Studio in India itself(price same as UK).

What do you think guys? Or shall I, just be greedy and grab a Samsung? There seems to be a service center in India which works on Samsung laptops and has satisfied customers from UK check this link LAPLAB

Yesss!!!!!!!! As my signature says.. I have got a Samsung X22 now and its so nice..Its a day old and I already am so fond of it. I got it from saveonsamsung and at a great price of £599. I had to go to their shop for VAT claims and all that stuff, and the guys were nice and helpful. Recommended shop, I would say. And thank you all, at NBR, who helped me directly or indirectly in choosing my notebook.

Glad to hear you are happy with yr purchase! It seems like a good price as it is way more expensive elsewhere - I guess the "weak" link would seem to be the graphics if you want to do a bit of gaming though I'm sure light gaming would still be ok. Interestingly Sainsbury's dropped the price of their Medion s5610 by £100 today and it can be had for £499 which seems pretty decent consodering the high spec. Anyone got one of these yet?

I was also going to get the A300-1BZ for £480 but it is out of stock(not from pcworld by the way!) Also looking at the A300D-15B @ £629...hoping price will fall soon

Price £749 includes vAT (without shipping) at HP UKsite, but at Amazon shipping is free wih same price, At Dabs.com the price is £50 lower, but specs not clear

    Hi circleinsquare.

Where did you get these specs for the DV51000ea? I've just looked on the HP website and it shows this model as having only 3GB of RAM and no bluetooth. These are two things which made me decide against this model.

    Arrowmaker,
I mentioned in the post above that quote is from HP UK site as well as Amazon UK, but possibly specs could have changed now. But again, without a 64 bit OS you wont be seeing more than 3GB RAM in your system, so not a big deal.

    Charlie,
Yes, the graphics is mid range, but as I was not looking for any maxed out games for the notebook, its ok for me.. NFS, FEAR (only these tried out so far) are running butter smooth and I plan to try out Mass Effect and Bioshock by next week.

Regarding the Median Akoya, the battery life is quite low, less than 1.5 hours as per the Sainsbury guys,so not a very viable choice.

The Toshiba A300D-15B has also low battery life(the link in price comparison says so) and personally, I always stay away from AMD processors . But of course, if you dont carry around the laptop, its a good choice.

BTW, the X22 is extremely light, so carry around is a breeze. The battery gives 2.5 hours with Power saver mode and normal use(without games). And other than saveonsamsung, every one else is giving lower speed processor and charging higher price(no idea why)
