    Default Gaming AND light?

I am looking for a true portable that I use to play games (Half Life, NOLF2, Call of Duty) and that does not weigh a ton. I am disabled and cannot lug around a 10 laptop with all the rest of the gear. I do not want to spend more than $2300.

    Thanks folks![:I]

for gaming, i would recommend using a 9600 vid card.
unfortunately, you will need to sacrifice raw gaming performance for a truly portable player.

right now, the best gaming laptops are truly beastly except, as you said, they way a hell lot, and don't last long on battery.

well, in that respect, you can take a look at the gateway m505x, m505xl or the dell inspiron 8600. hmm other than that, not sure what else to suggest.

    I agree with zhukeeper.

The games you play are fairly graphically intense, and you are going to want a decent video card to play them.

You could look at an Inspiron 600M, which has a 64 MB ATI 9000 card which is okay for some games, but with the newest games, you won't be able to play at full resolutions, details, etc. That notebook would be around 6 lbs probably.

The ATI 9600 is probably the best video card for gaming. The Dell 8600 has that, but you would be looking at about 7 to 7.5 lbs without the adapter, etc. Other than that, most gaming machines are mighty big.

i was looking for the exact same thing, i desided to get the HP ZT3000. Its 6.5 pounds, has 15.4" widescreen. 64 mb dedicated video card M radoen 9200. Its a pentium M so it runs great off batteries. Look at the site www.x1000forums.com to get more info on these. BTW teh compaq x1000 and HP ZT3000 are almost exactly the same notebook, with some external changes.
