    Does this seem like a good deal for $950? I'm leaning towards this machine...
    Is this video card enough to make the 17" look good, even though it's more for the 15"?

    Although, I'm gonna visit Best Buy on Sunday and check out the Gateway deal before I purchase anything...

    Discreet video memory just means that its has a graphics card rather than drawing vram from your system ram.

    As mentioned, it means you have separate dedicated graphics chip. If you want to game this is a characteristic you want your graphics chip to have as opposed to integrated GPU.
