Re: Cheapest 8600M GT
Hi mate
The screen is lovely and pretty sharp but I think it's a glossy screen. I personally love glossy screens so it's great for me
I don't think you can order it with a matte screen, Toshiba don't offer any customization like Dell. In terms of the screen when working in strong light, I'd say it holds up quite well to light with only a bit of reflection on the screen. The battery life I can't say anything about because it's been plugged into the charger since I got it and never taken out. This is because the laptop is really a DTR for me and has a permanent place on my desk in my room. Hope this helps Masten, one thing I can re-assure you of though is that it's an excellent laptop, great value and I'd buy it over a Dell anyday.

Re: Cheapest 8600M GT
Hi there fellow midlander,
Thanks much for your quick reply. Yeah, I rang Toshiba and no joy on the matte screen. I like the specs of the Dell better (has better battery life, 8600gt is slightly faster maybe - though not sure about that, has better screen for me) but I just cant bring myself to spend £600 on something Ive never seen and looks really ugly and dull in the pictures.
Probably going to go for the Toshiba.

Re: Cheapest 8600M GT
Well I've never liked Dell really. They too Americanised for my liking and over-rated for my liking and their machines are bricks.

Yeah, I really dont like the Vostro - really uninspiring. But the xps M1530 looks like a different kettle of fish.

Re: Cheapest 8600M GT
The graphics card looks pretty good, ranking one above the 8600M GS on notebookcheck.com benchmark list.
I'm thinking about getting a satellite, but the A200 processors are terrible. nothing above 1.8GHz even on the top of the range Models. The processors really let this range down, they would be ideal if they had a few around 2.0GHz.28 ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600

Re: Cheapest 8600M GT
Hey Exodemia I went ahead and got the a210-11p. Got it for £600 which is just an amazing price considering it runs Oblivion quite nicely at high settings. It is brilliant in every way except the battery which Im not too bothered about. Really glad I didn't go for the Dell.
