vostro 1400 or vostro 1500
i've finally found the right price for a laptop. i have narrowed down to either the vostro 1400(14") and vostro 1500(15.4"). i will be using it for college but i donno what i might do in college. the 1400 will cost 850 and the and the 1500 will cost 750. the only difference is that the 1400 is 14in, 2 gig of ram, and vista. the 1500 is 15.4in, 1gig of ram, and windows xp. i cant really pick which one to buy. i guess what i am asking is that is the extra 2 gig of ram and 1.4in smaller worth the 100buck extra? if you were me, which one would you get? lol thx

The Vostros are good notebooks for the money it seems.
Personally, I'd get the 14" because for portability they are much better than 15.4" notebooks. Go to a Best Buy and you can see that for yourself. If you have the same battery in both notebooks you will get better life out of the 14" because the screen is smaller (less power required).NotebookReview Writer & Reviewer

I'd go with the 14. Mainly for the portability issue mentioned above.

Re: vostro 1400 or vostro 1500
If size isn't an issue, then goe with the 1500 because of the 8600m GT, though you could use more RAM.
