Asus G1S, G2S vs ASUS F3SV

Asus G1S and G2S both will have Nvidia GeForce 8600M with 256MB of video RAM, while F3SV will have NVIDIA GeForce 8600M graphics with up to 1GB of RAM.

just wondering what will be the best choice in terms of gaming GPU.

As far as I know right now, all three have the same graphics solution. As long as the other specs are equal (RAM, CPU, etc...) then they should have the same performance in gaming. (One possible exception is that the G2 might have better cooling, thus better overclocking abilities.)

The G1s and G2s probably. The F3SV is proported to have the slightly less capable 8600M GS graphics card while the G models will have the GT version. The amount of memory doesn't matter and in the case of the F3SV the GB of RAM would be shared.

as far as i knw the g1 and the g2 have the 8600 gt which should be much more powerful than the gs.

Are the differences in the two really that extreme? I know the GT has more stream processors, but the GS has higher clock speeds, right?

Wow - really? Where did you see that? Until now all my searches return reports that they both have the 8600M - not the GT model. This would change my purchasing plans!

May searches indicate 8600M not the GT.But hopefully there will be more clarifications soon.

The F3SV has the 8600GS, while the G1/G2 have the 8600GT. That is for certain.
Though the 8600GS has higher clock rates, the fillrate of the 8600GS is only 4.8billion/s whereas the fillrate of the 8600GT is 7.6billion/s.

I suppose they haven't yet got any benchmarks for the 8600M (not GT). Notice there isn't any mention of the 8400M there either.

Since my post I've found news articles that say the 8600M GT will be in the two Asus G-models, but the majority I've read simply say 8600 M, which could be taken to mean either the GT or the non-GT model.

I really hope the GT will be included in the next month or so, and that it's power requirements are closer to the 7900GS than the 7950GTX.
