Bluetooth
Can anyone recommend a Bluetooth adapter that offers consistent performance across a variety of laptops. My story is that I purchased an Anycom USB bluetooth adapter. I bought this one specifically because it's marketed as a Class 1 device with a max transmit range of 300ft. The issue is that I've tried it in a variety of laptops and require multiple shutdown/restarts before I can get it working. Heaven forbid I let the computer go into standby/hibernate...I end up where I started. So I'm trying to gather opinions as to the best Bluetooth adapter available, platform not withstanding (USB, PC Card, or Compact Flash).

Well, a large part of the problem is that XP doesn't handle BT very well. That said, in teh USB form factor, I've had good luck with IOgear and in the CF I would strongly recommend Socket.

Thanks for the info. I've had good luck in the past with Socket products. The whole bluetooth ordeal has kind of pushed me away from the technology. I mainly use it with my Socket GPS but not getting consistent operation has me frustrated. Luckily, I can still use my GPS with my iPaq, but even that required a little tinkering with the registry before I got it to work consistently...and that was after the latest firmware upgrades. I don't know, but it just seems Bluetooth isn't quite ready for primetime. Thanks again for the info, I'm going to see which one of those I can get my hands on first and at the best price.
