Re: long battery life, 10-14', dedicated gfx
The HP nc6400 with the X1300 is another business-class option.
Anyway, check out the battery life.Mobility Radeon X1300: Up to 4 hours (up to 7.8 hours with HP Extended Life Battery, up to 10.8 hours with HP Ultra-capacity battery)Last edited by Dreamer; 9th February 2007 at 06:08 PM.

I would say go with the dv2000t notebook and the 12-Cell battery that will get you 6 hours of battery life, and you can order it as a CTO with a custom configuration. The Thinkpad T-60 is also a good choice and a solid notebook.

Re: long battery life, 10-14', dedicated gfx
how long will the t60 last exactly? My brother has a t42p, and he has the bay battery, but I cant find it anywhere on their website, did they stop making those?
edit:
Where can I buy that? How much does it cost? hp's site is note very descriptive, it only says 128mb dedicated, and it only has the 6 cell battery as an option. Also in the review it said it had around 3 hours.

You might also want to consider the XPS m1210 with a 9 cell-battery.

Re: long battery life, 10-14', dedicated gfx
check this:
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pcinst...ref/tabook.pdf
There are different batteries listed on the site... in the "Batteries and power accessories" part.
It should be something like:
Primary Battery = 6-cell
Extended Life Battery = 8-cell
Ultra-Capacity Battery = 12-cell
Also, all companies (HP and Lenovo too) overestimate the battery life...and it depends on how you use it.Last edited by Dreamer; 9th February 2007 at 06:33 PM.

Re: long battery life, 10-14', dedicated gfx
How do you think it would look with the extended battery sticking out? How is the x1300 video card in performence?
The linked site does not load.
Thanks, I forgot to add that one.
Still down know which way to go
Edit: on a plane, I watch divx movies, so I have my brighteness on about 1/4, and wifi/bluetooth off.Last edited by pcharouz; 9th February 2007 at 06:48 PM.

Re: long battery life, 10-14', dedicated gfx
There are charts and pictures (last "plus") on the HP site.
http://www.hp.com/sbso/solutions/pc_...ery/index.html
As for the T60, it's a pdf...just download it.
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pcinst...ref/tabook.pdf
It's like (below)... and you should swap out the optical drive with a second battery here (that's the difference with the HP) if you want max. battery life
Of course, the X1300 will reduced the battery life...6-cell or 9-cell / supports unique 2nd battery in Ultrabay Slim
6-cell: up to 6.0 hr; 9-cell: up to 9.0 hr; 9-cell plus Ultrabay battery: up to 11.5 hrLast edited by Dreamer; 9th February 2007 at 07:21 PM.

Re: long battery life, 10-14', dedicated gfx
I recommend the thinkpad x60 should give you superb battery life about 7-8 hours with 8 cell battery. You can also get extra battery as well fit bottom of laptop or just buy an extra. when you need a dvd then can get the ultrabase.
The thinkpad t60 dives a bit less battery than its older t42 one.

Re: long battery life, 10-14', dedicated gfx
you definitely will need a laptop with a modular bay so you can use two batteries, or one that offers an extended battery.
Other than the T series from Lenovo, I think the W3j will be a good fit. You won't find any thing under 12" with dedicated graphics, while there's only 1 12" in the US that has dedicated graphics (the XPS M1210).. however the XPS has nearly the same exact profile and weight as the Asus W7j, which in turn, is nearly the same size as a 14" laptop. Check out my W7J review where I have it side by side an XPS M1210 and a 14" Dell D620.PC notebooks with Thunderbolt Port:
