That is a good question. I never used it to do anything else but load the OS on my 18. I just checked Panasonic home page and it lists it as a DVD-ROM/CD-RW .

I did a search for price and the lowest I could find was $120.00 + s/h...List price $317.00+ . Only reason why I am selling it is I have 2 of them.Blair
