and heres the reason why.....................been using mine constantly for 5 months or so now and its performed flawlessly, its still as fast as the day i bought it, its still working without issue for everything, all sleep modes, software and drivers, not a single problem encountered. and i get the feeling its very similar for 90% of Z83 series owners out there hence no thread left! lol!

either way, top job from tosh!
I agree with you. Mine has been working flawlessly!. I bought mine used and paid under $600 for it.

So Asus is putting 1080p on their next ubooks, (possibly the Zenbook Prime):

ASUS Zenbook Primes with 1080p IPS panels and (probably) Ivy Bridge are real, coming to Taiwan in June -- Engadget

    It's IPS too.

I hope Toshiba makes a 1080p option available.

I, as well, have no prob throwing an update in. This is still my main system and now has a Renice 240GB mSATA SSD in it. Although, initially, I got SATA 3 functioning, I could never recreate that once the mSATA was switched off for another and a re-install of the mSATA was conducted.

Funny as it seems, I have a top of the line Zenbook sitting right here beside me with SATA 3 and I just don't touch it... I am very happy with the Z830 although....

I have been itching to try out the 15" Series 9 so may buy one when it comes out in Ivy Bridge.

The Ramexperts are selling through UK ebay

slightly higher price than on the US Ramexperts web site but jolly convenient
Am very tempted as have almost run out of space on the standard drive on my Z830. May wait though until an expert has tried one in this ultrabook and confirmed all ok

nah, needs to be a true UK supplier, otherwise we get stung for another 60 quid for the import duties!

Default z830 running out of hd room

I recently bought a satellite z830. I love the machine but only one problem. I'm running out of room on the ssd...its 128 gb but only 98 available...how can I open up more space? I have windows 7 installation disks so can I get rid of one of the partitions? There is a 11 gb and a 8 gb one...I have seen other threads warning against this-

Any other owners that have successfuly managed to open up more of the 128 gb for use?

    thanks
