Re: Official X500 Owner's Lounge!
I noticed your in the UK, did you get hit with import tax as that place you bought from seems to be in the US ?
How much did it cost in total to get it to your door in the UK in english pound sterling ?
Whats the major differences between the US one and the UK, did you have to buy a different power adapter etc ? Whats the warranty situation incase anything goes wrong, do you have to ship it back to the US ?M17X R2 shortly ....

Re: Official X500 Owner's Lounge!
As I've said, there is no Customs Duty on imported laptops to the U.K. You only pay VAT which is 15%. So it's about £150 for this laptop to import it in. The only difference I think is a 7200rpm HD, instead of a bigger 5400rpm, which is what you anyways. The power adapter has a standard 2 plug input, like the number of eight shape. You can get a uk plug for one of these things very cheap. You'll probably actually have a spare one lying around from a dvd player/something anyways.
Your other answers are on the previous page.

Re: Official X500 Owner's Lounge!
There are also other differences:
- UK model has fingerprint scaner, while US model doesn't
- UK model has blu Ray writer, while US has only blu Ray reader (both support DVD writing/reading).
No import duty, only VAT
Express delivery via UPS was about 70 quid.
With all costs included it still did cost me significantly cheaper then buy UK model (which is not available yet anyway and will not be for a while), I wanted US keyboard, dont care for blu ray writer, and loss of fingerprint scanner still tenfold covered by money win.
I did post link to the shop I've bought from above.Toshiba Satellite X200 => Toshiba Qosmio X505 => Lenovo ThinkPad W701 => mySN XMG P501 (Clevo P150HM) => mySN XMG P502 classic KB (Clevo P151EM1)

So what would the rough cost be to get a Qosmio X505-Q850 to your door in the UK, the site on the link at the top of this page has the X505-Q850 listed for $1,799.00.

Re: Official X500 Owner's Lounge!
I just went to their order form - it will show total cost with delivery in USD.
Convert it to GBP and multiply by 1.15Toshiba Satellite X200 => Toshiba Qosmio X505 => Lenovo ThinkPad W701 => mySN XMG P501 (Clevo P150HM) => mySN XMG P502 classic KB (Clevo P151EM1)

Re: Official X500 Owner's Lounge!
Hi everyone ... great thread. Two quick questions.
(1) Based on some reviews from users, I've read the wifi card is weak. Can anyone verify how they do with wireless?
(2) Costco had a version of this x505-q832 which is essentially the x505-q830 for roughly same price with a 2 year warranty versus the 1 year warranty. all other specs the same. It is no longer on the site and wondering if anyone knows why? Was curious is there was some kind of recall over the wifi issue.
Thanks all!
