Default A300/305 HDMI Audio Out problem (w/ ATI 3650 graphics card)

Hi. I have had continued problems getting audio out to my TV via the HDMI port on my A300-ST4004 (basically a build to order A305).

I have an ATI Mobility Radeon 3650 graphics card that I think is also supposed to control the sound.

I've tried just about every setting under control panel "sounds" but still nothing. I actually had it working once but it has never worked since and I don't know how it was working then or what settings I had to change. But I had to reboot at the time to get sound back out of my laptop speakers. I have looked for updated drivers from Realtek, ATI, and Toshiba. Nothing - except this on Toshiba's website:

But it is for Vista 64 bit. I have 32 bit and there is no updated driver newer than the one that came installed on my machine.

Help! Anyone! This is driving me crazy.

    Thanks.

I have a P300 with an HD3650 and the hdmi audio out works fine, have a look at the link below for driver updates, also see the picture of my audio playback devices, you have to set the hdmi digital output to default when using hdmi.

ALWAYS MAKE A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT BEFORE INSTALLING OR REMOVING ANY SOFTWARE
DONT FLASH NEW FIRMWARE WHEN IT FIRST COMES OUT, WAIT TO SEE IF THERE`S ANY PROBLEMS FIRST

Thanks Tinderbox. I appreciate the link and the image. Interesting Toshiba is showing an "HDMI control manager" download on their European site, but it is not listed on the USA site. I will give that a try. I do have a "Realtek" high definition audio device showing, but not the the "Digital Output Device (HDMI)" shown on your image.

Anyway, thanks very much for your assistance. I will let you know what happens.

    Cheers!

Tinderbox - you are awesome! I went to the link you provided for Toshiba Europe and downloaded the HDMI controller. That actually was not "it" - that is for HDTV control of the PC.

But I searched on audio / sound and found this (link).

I installed it and it works great. Now I can see the Digital Output Device (HDMI) under Control Panel > Manage Audio Devices. I simply select the HDMI device, "Set Default" when it is selected and sound goes through my HDMI to my TV. I have to set it back manually when I'm done using the TV or else I get no sound from my PC speakers. Also, I noticed if I am running an application with sound, I have to close it out first before switching to HDMI output in order for it to work / output sound via the HDMI.

Also, as a bonus, this seems to have improved the volume levels on my laptop speakers.

Anyway, it all works beautifully! Thank you so much - this has been bugging the crap out of me for many months now.

    Have a great day!
