Re: Do you like your Toshiba?
I am very satisfied with my M40-JM3, i got one of these babies before they were even released, so it is a very early model, and have had no problems. Well, except that the AC died once (the power box, not the AC plug on the laptop), but my dealer swiftly replaced it for me. I think that was due to a power surge, or maybe a faulty unit, but the laptop itself is very good. In the first month or two, almost everyone including myself had that whining high pitch sound, but it's gone now, so its probably a sound card driver problem, or its just something that happens with brand new units (needs breaking in!).
Also, recently i decided to update all the drivers that Toshiba has on their website, including BIOS to 1.70, and the wireless problem is gone, vanished. Every time i reboot, the wireless stays on.
All in all I'd give my laptop an A- because craftsmanship is not as good as some of the other brands, and i have not yet run into any major porblems that involve me dealing with Toshiba Support directly, but the product is very good. Feels great playing all the latest games on highest settings for the past year...

Re: Do you like your Toshiba?
Does anyone have the Tecra A6? Is that a good laptop? I used to have a Tecra 5000 looooong time ago and it served me well enough.
The A6 I am referring to is the Core Duo version.

Also, what is the mention of Tru Brite screen technology? I am unfamiliar with it.

How long have you had this laptop? Are you hard on your machine?

I'll admit it's not a road warriors laptop, but I don't think it's that bad from a durability build stand point.

Mike

Re: Do you like your Toshiba?
7 days ago I bought Toshiba Satellite A105-S361
Pentium M 2HGz
1GB DDR2 Memory
120GB 5400RPM SATA drive
Still satisfied!
Why satisfied? Because I paid $249 for 3 years warranty, it'll pay off!

Re: Do you like your Toshiba?
Have 2435-S255 ( i think). Bought it 3 years ago and my only complaint is that one of my USB ports stopped working, but that is mostly likely because i once hit the laptop at which point my hard drive also broke
I guess they should build impact resistant laptops for angry russians
Its great really, never a problem. Im replacing it with the new P100 that should arrive next week. I chose it over the HP DV8000t and i hope i made the right choice.

Re: Do you like your Toshiba?
I guess it depends on model you bought. I got faulty designed one. love my M30, display, ergonomics and hate it because of it keeps failing every 4-5 months-motherboards, video card, display. everything was replaced once or twice under warranty. And I am pretty sure it will fail again. I wish they had replacement policy. it was expensive to buy for me and now Toshiba spend those money to fix majors.

Re: Do you like your Toshiba?
i jsut took off the protective plastic film thats on top of the lid and i got scratches on the lid now! i had some plastic thin file folders on top of the laptop in my backpack and now i have these minor scratches and 'marks'.
this is on my m70-cl1, is there anyway i can get rid of these marks, or in the future, are replaceable covers available?

Re: Do you like your Toshiba?
Yeah, that would be nice to have a CHOICE when it comes to all the garbage they shove into the new systems... but if any of you have read about the Sony Vaios, they're apparently a NIGHTMARE to reformat and reinstall Windows. So i guess Toshiba isn't that bad after all - at least in that department....
