Re: Official x300/x305 Owner's Lounge
You mean the 9700?
I have mixed feelings on SLI, but I dont want to get into the performance arguments but just the cost sli normally adds to a price, the size it very often adds, the weight it very often adds.
I need to take my babies to work so thats kind of out of the question for me, besides can you really see a difference in crysis at high or very high? For me, its too small to care

Re: Official x300/x305 Owner's Lounge
wow well i thought that mine had 2 all along, if we actually look inside them, there is only one fan inside. the other is just a vent i think, i can actually see what i think is the motherboard.
i think it could have 2, but ares doesnt have alot of power, so it may not need 2. if we had say quad core and SLI, then yes, it should need 2.
i dont know for sure, but this is what im thinking.
also, did u say your overheats? what does it get to? my gpu maxes at 65 degrees in games, cpus max at 55 and HD max at 43 degrees.
i thought that it had 2 all along, but i guess it doesnt need it. it has alot of room in there, and not maxed out in power.
i built my own cooler with 2 fans blowing air into both of the holes, and my gpu doesnt go over 50 degrees

Re: Official x300/x305 Owner's Lounge
There is definitely something wrong with mine then if yours maxes at 65C. I used HWmonitor and played crysis for 30mins and mines reached 100C as max temperature, I only bought it last week but the way things are the GPU will be dead in a few weeks.
The heatsink must be mounted right because the temp rises very slowly.
I noticed the fan does not spin as fast as the first 2 seconds when you press the power switch at these temps either, seems to be around 80% speed?
The funny thing is my CPU does not ever go over 50C even when running ORTHOS for an hour. I have the 2.4GHZ p8600.

Re: Official x300/x305 Owner's Lounge
I am quite perplexed now. It appears that it is my mistake and the system only has 1 fan!!! Right next to it is the same vent, but no fan and then the subwoofer behind both of them.
and the highest ive seen my temps are:
in farenheit by the way
CPU: 163
GPU 155
HD 118
I ran Prime 95, and nvidia geoforms with my stable clocks in my sig for about an hour and a half and that was what i got. i didnt elevate anything, just on a flat table.
and jacob, since the newer qosmios incorporate SLI, it is definitely possible for ours as long as there is no motherboard limitation or difference, which i am quite sure there isn't. there are only 2 problems:
1. obtaining a 9700m gts
2. obtaining the proper cables and screws to connect them with SLi
You could try contacting toshiba, but they may not have a clue or an answer that would be appropriate as their sales reps or tech support is just based on answering more simple questions. last time i called tech support, i was like 5
so i dont deal with those guys. but, SLi would be cool but not easy to have/get.
And check this out:
http://explore.toshiba.com/laptops/q...x305/x305-Q708
that is the x305-q708. it is a beast but there are problems:
1. $4200??????????!!!!!
2. 1440x900 res
3. SLi 9800m GTS's, not GT's or GTX's
So, i dont think that this laptop is worth it. it is too costly and the screen res just ruins the whole deals completely!!!!
by the way, it can be purchased directly from www.Toshibadirect.com as well.
also, has anyone used any of my tips and checked out 3dmark 06 for benchmarks?????Alienware M17x-R3 Space Black | i7-2720QM | 8GB 1600MHz HyperX | Radeon 6970M | 256GB Crucial M4

Re: Official x300/x305 Owner's Lounge
ah, those clocks are kinda low. but still, it varies from GPU to GPU. they are still good.
and what are your specs? they cant be the same as mine. There is no way someone can beat my score with the same q701 as mine.Alienware M17x-R3 Space Black | i7-2720QM | 8GB 1600MHz HyperX | Radeon 6970M | 256GB Crucial M4

Re: Official x300/x305 Owner's Lounge
oh yeah, definitely. i was about to say, cause im already 1000 past stock scores without anything overclocked and this was when i first got it.
weeks and weeks later and hours of work, i built this thing from the ground up. i am close to a gateway p7811's stock score of 8700.Alienware M17x-R3 Space Black | i7-2720QM | 8GB 1600MHz HyperX | Radeon 6970M | 256GB Crucial M4

Re: Official x300/x305 Owner's Lounge
wow that thing is pretty sweet, but the screen is too low.
about the overclocking, is it safe in the laptop? will it reduce the life of any part of the laptop at all? im not too woried as this thing can support SLI and such.
