Re: Official x300/x305 Owner's Lounge
I have 8426 3DMark 06. The best Toshiba out now is the $4200 US q708. The best deal for price to performance is the q706, with 2 9700m gts cards in sli. Who knows, it could be 9800m gts cards, but the only way to find out is if someone has it.
and i have never tried the face recognition tool. however, i heard that toshiba "recognizes" the issue but cannot recall where that was from.Alienware M17x-R3 Space Black | i7-2720QM | 8GB 1600MHz HyperX | Radeon 6970M | 256GB Crucial M4

Hey, everyone hear about the 3 gpus being unveiled in the q706 and q708. better wait a bit for them to settle so you can have 3. the 9400m igp is only for less power consumption and heat, plus if your Sli cards fail, hey at least you have something.

Re: Official x300/x305 Owner's Lounge
ok well heres a few things that i want to do, from now until christmas.
buy an external hard drive and put all my files on it.
buy an internal hard drive, preferibly 100 - 200 gb 7200rpm hd.
reinstall vista onto the 100gb hd and use that only for windows. i wont load anything else on it. i will save all files to the external and 320gb hard drive.
eventually fix my cd drive. it makes alot of creaks when pushing on it.
hopefully the fresh install will fix the bootup problem and other things.
possibly buy a cpu upgrade.

Re: Official x300/x305 Owner's Lounge
Hello everyone! I'm new to this forum and the proud new owner of the Q706, and I would like to set the record straight once and for all about its specs. For starters it has a screen resolution up to 1680x1050 which is fine with me, it also comes packed with 3 GPU’s. It has a 9400m for optional use to conserve battery power when it’s not using external power, and 2 9800m GTX with Nvidia SLI technology up to 1gb of dedicated memory. The performance of this machine is great, I can run Fallout 3 on high settings and resolution without any noticeable clipping. The only changes I would make for this laptop would be a 2.53GHz processor and maybe a different paint job (I bought a black and red biohazard skinit to cover the ugly flames on the back lol). If anyone has any questions for me please fell free to ask anything you like.
