    M30
1.Remove one M2.5x10 flathead screw securing the HDD cover and remove it

2.Use the vinyl tab to pull back on the HDD, disconnecting it from the computer

    3.Lift the HDD out

    Hey all,

Just wanted to introduce myself. I am a laptop tech for a repair facility and I mostly work on Toshiba USA models. I have an excelent knowledge of virtually all toshiba laptops barring the newer models (anything newer than a 105/A105). So if you have any questions regarding repairs, I would be more than happy to answer them.

    Just a few things though.

    1. I do not work for Toshiba
    2. I cannot tell you where I work
    3. Some information about Toshiba laptops I am unable to share due to non disclosure agreements.

If you come across an M115-S3094 and know how to remove the cover over the hard drive, I would like to know about it. See my post on the previous page. It is message #137.

Chutsman, please take a picture of the base from a top view so i can see the whole cover, not just the opening you have.

the design of the m115 looks very similar to that of the P105/A105 which just has a single screw holding in the cover. all that is needed to do is unscrew this and then pry up the cover from that same edge.

Unfortunately the notebook is in another country 3000 miles away. I just thought you might know "off the top of your head" how the cover is removed. I've examined that fourth edge that wouldn't budge very closely and was unable to see what is holding it. And since the notebook wasn't mine, I didn't want to overstress it. If you do happen to come across one and find out how to remove the cover I would appreciate it if you post the solution.

The next one I come across I will be sure to note how to take off the cover. But as with most toshiba plastics (well laptops in general), once you remove all of the screws its just a matter of pulling relaly hard to get the part to come off.

I know that with the A75, sometimes I will have to use roughly 100lbs of pulling force to seperate the base from palm rest even after the screws are removed.

    Thanks.
hi. There are two more clips. You see the small one in your picture (closest to where the screw is, not the front ones)? There is an identical one on the opposite site of the lid (in the same position, more or less), and one more (slightly wider) in the corner on the front of the machine. Assuming you are sitting with the front of the machine toward you grab the lid and twist it slightly counter-clockwise to release the small clip on the side and the lid will come right off.
    cheers

Thanks for the update. Next time I have the laptop I'll give it another try. Those clips surely hold that fourth edge really tight.
