Toshibas are noisy
I've had two of them - M105 purchased last year, and A105 purchased this year. Although, they are built and have performed reasonable well. There's one nagging thing that will prevent me from ever considering a Toshiba notebook purchase. The fact of the matter is that they are NOISY. Both of them were bought new and did not have dedicated graphics and were used for rather light tasks: word processing and internet browsing. The fan on both of them kicks in every 3-5 min. And it's loud. I also used Sony, Dell, Lenovo and this problem is practically non-existent. Sure, they have cooling fans working there, but a) they start in much larger intervals, b) they are much more quieter. I searched this forum and the same issue pops up here and there with Toshibas, and apparently there's no solution to it. I called Toshiba CS, and they were useless. Someone may suggest getting a separate cooling pad, but no, thank you. It's like saying, you bought a car, and you have to take care of it and buy wheels for it. Also, it's not a matter of dust gathering in the vents, or something like that. It's a HARDWARE problem, and Toshiba should take care of it.

Re: Toshibas are noisy
Well have you tried undervolting the CPU? that will reduce the amount of heat...meaning the fan will be on less often....

Re: Toshibas are noisy
On my A135 I've noticed that the fan does come on very often like you said, every 3-5 minutes, but I wouldn't describe it as being very loud or annoying. Maybe you got a bad fan installed

Re: Toshibas are noisy
Yes, sure, I played with the power plan setting - not much difference.
