When i called Hpshopping.com and talked to the sales support they were very helpful in giving me the info necessary to help me when coming to screen resolution and gaming info.
I looked at the Dell myself and did'nt like it.I had did alot of my own reserch before making a decision.
There might be someone in forum family that can give you answers also_One thing i do know is your 64mb is dedicated.I have Call of Duty on my laptop and with the 9200 radeon and it does just fine.
quote:

The 64 MB card will work fine on the WXGA screen.

If you are talking about speed for gaming the speed doesn't really matter that much. The processors in this series of laptop are fast enough to the point that the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) is the bottleneck. Think of this like a funnel. You can only pour so much liquid down at a time. Having a larger jug wouldn't help it to go down any faster, only a larger funnel (or in this case a faster GPU).

Thanks for replies. I'm still waiting for a full report/review on the zx5000 either in the press or on line. Perhaps its out there and I'm not looking hard enough! My preferences now are Mobile P4 3.06 Ghz,
XP home,1 x512MB ram,4x DVD+RW/R &CD-RW combo drive, 802.11g/wireless
LAN, 15.4"WXGA, 64MB ATI 9600 Graphics, Office Basic,12cell battery.
Thats over $2000 worth so I want to make sure I dont get a lemon.
I'm not experienced enough to judge just looking at specs. I tend to keep my note-books a while. My present Dell is six years old and struggling.

It's not that your not looking hard enough a full review of a zx5000 just doesn't exist at the moment for some reason. I looked for a long time and never found one. However, mine should be here in about 1 to 2 weeks, and I will try to write as complete an informal review as I can.
But keep your eyes out for an official one, also watch for the Compaq R3000 since they are basically identical machines.

I just ordered the HP zx5040. It has the ATI 9200 64MB. I wanted to order it custom built from computers4sure.com but I had problems getting it shipped to an APO address. Im a soldier deployed overseas so its hard getting companies to mail stuff, anyways I wanted to know the main difference between the 9200 64MB and 9600MB. Im not a hardcore gamer but I like to play BF and some other similar games.

There'e not a great deal of difference. With 64MB dedicated, that will take care of your gaming needs.
