i use zonelaram 2009 (v8.0.059.0) when i load a CD, everything would get really slow, high cpu usage, very high HDD and CD-Drive activity for a long long long time.

this happens on all of my 3 windows computer (2XP and 1Vista)

anyone experiencing this also? is ZA aware of the problem?

does the new v8.0.258.0 fixes this problem? how come when i check for security suite update it says that my version is "up-to-date". should i download it manually? or should i revert to version 7?

im thinking of reverting to zonealarm 7.1 for my vista computer.
does the 7.1 for vista has this issue also? i know that the 7.0 xp version does not have this issue.

do zonealarm still provide new version for that one? or they abandon it and just work on the update for 8.0 instead....

in general, reverting to older versions of security software is usually a step back, when it gets to security.

    i'd suggest to
    - upgrade to the latest program version
    - should the issue persist, check (for example in the task manager) which processes eat most CPU, post here the processes names and someone will be able to advise properly.

by the way, you aren't using more than one antivirus/firewall on your computer, are you?

CheckPoint/ZoneLabs usually rolls out new versions and waits a week or two before enabling automatic updates. If you want the newer version, simply download it and install it. I updated ZAAV on February 23rd 2009 without incident and it is working fine. In fact, the annoying bug in the older version where it paid no attention to how often AV updates were set to be; doing it every hour anyway, has been fixed. It now updates every three hours, just as set to do.
