I'm running Ubuntu 16.04 on a Zenbook UX430UQ, and I can't make the keyboard light turn off automatically, which wastes battery.

Fn+F3/F4 work to change the backlight intensity, but Fn+A doesn't do anything. Any other Linux users here?

You can't turn off the backlit because it does not have such option, however if someone can modify the BIOS firmware then it is possible.

    Hello there,

Can you retry this with an Ubuntu 18.04LTS live USB, or a newer distro such as Fedora, etc? Perhaps the ASUS WMI driver on the newer kernels has a workaround for that.

Can't wait for my GM501GS XS74 so I can start playing with Linux on it.

Hmm, I also cannot get the backlight to work on the GM501GS on Ubuntu 18.04LTS.
