Over the past few days I've found out JUST HOW BAD Lenovos support and view of their warranties is. I've been hung up on, told in broken English 'we no have your money, go way' and after hours in chat and on the phone to various departments I was eventually told, in summary...

You didn't buy the product directly from our website so we won't honor the warranty or stand behind our product. Others who bought directly from our website have received all manner of compensation for their defective machines but you outta luck, so sorry. Oh they did say they moved heaven and earth to get an approval of a 30 or 60 day extension to my product warranty although Id have to call another department and go through hours on the phone with them to get that finalized... and we are talking a 30-60 day extension on a warranty that they are already refusing to honor so whats the point in that exactly?

So... I would recommend against buying Lenovo products with the exception of thinkpads as they are supported by IBM unless you buy a special Lenovo warranty which I would recommend against. If you have to buy a Lenovo product you should likely buy from their website or they won't stand behind their products. If you do choose to buy a Lenovo product through a 3rd party reseller as I did I would recommend buying an extended warranty that covers everything so you dont' have to deal with Lenovo refusing to support their products.

This is what you get if you don't buy Think* products. I had my P50 repaired by IBM three times and I was really pleased how it went, create a ticket, they'll mail or call you back, On Site Service tech comes (even though i'm a end user and not a big company!) to you and replaces the part. Had the mobo, lower chassis and display bezel replaced all under warranty.

Yep... who would guess there would be THAT much difference between products from the same company. I've had lots of thinkpads and have nothing but good to say about the products and support. But I'll never buy another Lenovo made product outside the think brand.
