So I've got a few questions about the Y410p battery and was hoping some of the owners could chime in. I'm unable to find any specifications of the battery except on a couple of Thai websites. One says the battery is 4400 mAh, the other says 5800 mAh. Either way, that appears to be lower than the Y400.

The biggest thing stopping me from buying one is the weak battery life. If it could actually pull off 5 hours in light use (word processing and web browsing with WiFi on), that would be fine. But all the reviews seem to suggest that I'll be seeing more like 3.5-4 hours with that kind of usage. It's a shame, because I was looking forward to improved battery performance from a Haswell/Optimus combo. Alas, there won't be much improvement, if at all, if they downgrade the battery.

So besides specifications, I was wondering if anyone knew if a Y400 battery is compatible. If not, where can I buy a second battery, anyway? And maybe I'm wishing for too much here, but has Lenovo said anything about bringing out an ultrabay battery like the ones the Thinkpads have?

    Thanks!

Battery life is one of the least concern in gaming laptops. Quad core CPU alone eats battery for breakfast. The GT 750M is also a battery hog. Just buy a spare if you need more time on the battery.

Y400 battery is compatible with Y410P in case youre wondering, and i managed to get over 4 hours doing light surfing @ mid brightness, with Dropbox and a few other Daemons running in the background.

Power Saver Mode + 4600HD if your friend, but all in all, get a dual-core ULV for max battery life.

Well sure, but I figured that's where Optimus came in. I certainly don't expect great battery life when the 750M is enabled. But, the MSI GE40, with a GTX 760M, pulls off 8 hours thanks to the large battery (and also, perhaps, the 4702MQ). So, really, my concern is that they opted for a smaller battery when they could have gone over 5 hours without much trouble.

Good info, thanks! And I'm not really looking for the most battery life possible (I'd buy an X230 if I was), just a good balance. 5-6 hours is what I need, and a notebook of this performance level is capable of it. It's a great package overall, I just wish they gave us an option for a larger battery or an ultrabay battery.

Also, if it isn't too much trouble, do you think you could read off the specs on your battery?

I have my y410p as my bring to class/play league of legends in class laptop, and on max brightness (even without the 750m) the battery life was around 2 hours. It would be nice if there was an ultrabay battery...I don't know what kind of ultrabay things they'll have, this is my first lenovo

Playing a game on max brightness is an easy way of draining a battery quickly, but 2 hours isnt bad for LoL @ Max Brightness.

I got a 4400 mah one, if it helps, but yes, I've also seen the thai site where it states 5800 mah. I wonder where we can get the 5800 mah one.
