    I was sure I installed the drive properly and formatted it accordingly, so this confirmation is good to know. I will check back on the update and see if it pushes through. Thanks again

    is there a new bios version that allows undervolting and throttlestop now?

    Dell hasn't unlocked any of its laptops, and I wouldn't expect them ever to do so. You may be able to enable it as some have done on the Lenovo Legion 5 through a modified BIOS, but that's something you would need to do yourself with no guarantee that it would work on the XPS.

    so using throttlestop is not possible in any newer laptop with an intel cpu, maybe its time for me to move to amd on my next purchase...

    Right now AMD doesn't allow voltage adjustment for their mobile CPUs either...

    there was some talk last year about an app to control the amd cpu, thought it was working after many months. but yeah unfortunately nada.

    For fun I ran the 3DMark stress test on my XPS 17, and this is not the result I expected.
