Probably right that A11 is a year old. Bios A12 is now out!

Just upgraded from a10 to a12.
My heart was pounding throughout the whole process.
It updated, then automatically did a shutdown.
My PC froze in the blue Microsoft shutdown screen.
I had to hard stop it by holding down the power button a few seconds.
Upon powering up, windows gave me the option to troubleshoot or restart.
    I chose to restart.
    Everything (seems) to be ok.

Dell's bios upgrades are the absolute worst nightmares out there.
I think I am pushing my luck every time I do a bios update.

I have replaced my battery twice now. They sure swell up fast, even with light use. Such crap parts. At least it still works fine, except for a vertical shadow down the right part of the 4K screen. I may look at the new 2020 xps15 soon, but am disappointed that it has an even smaller battery.

Mine is still going strong (knock on wood) have only had a issue with the battery once, got that changed a couple of years ago. Bought it in march 2014 and im still happy with this laptop. I do have a Samsung 850 EVO ssd.

They keys are a little bit sticky tho, spilled some soda on the laptop awhile ago, but it works.

I think im gonna wait for Tiger Lake before my next upgrade. I dont feel I need more speed then I have right now so im good, I bought this one so I could have a laptop that would last for some time. 6 years is kinda good.

My daughter uses our xps 15 9530 for online school. Runs latest Windows 10 x64 pro 20H2. Sometimes ear-piercing screeches occur during online meetings. Not sure if it is because of the old realtek sound driver. Both the latest driver from dell support and the one provided in windows are from 2015. Versions 7610 and 7628. Has anyone found a newer Realtek driver supporting Realtek ALC3661? For now I forced it back to Microsoft HD audio driver via Group Policy.
