My XPS15 must be broken or something...

My performance issues is srsly insane.

Just look at this, running stress test in CPU Z and MSI afterburner shows this on my cpu.

1700MHz clock speed, not never passin 55 Celcius as its only using 12W....

Running Cinebench gives me 430, at best 500! Can barely use programs like Phostshop or Adobe Illustrator, I CAN'T EVEN PLAY CS GO IN 1600X900 at lowest settings with more than 70-80 fps.

I have it set to max performance, I have the adapter connected and restarted with it plugged in. I have Dell power manager set to Max performance.

    What could it possibly be?

Well first of all I'll have you watch the language. Having said that, it's totally not clocking up. Do you run throttle stop or intel XTU? Maybe update the Dell Power Manager to see if that makes a difference.

WARNING DO NOT UPDATE TO BIOS 1.6!!!!

After all my performance issues I updated to the new bios to see if things would change.

Now my CPU is stuck at 798MHz! Apparently a common problem on 9550 and 9560 as well.

I tried unplug the battery for a minute, didn't work and Dell support is closed until Monday.

The new bios really screws your laptop

I do not have those issues with 1.6. You can try to do a bios reset or even downgrade to 1.5.0.

A reset of bios didn't work.

Downgraded back to 1.5 and my cpu is back to where it was before. Still performing issues, but at least it works over 798MHz and I can use the laptop for school work, such as word and excel.

Shoutout to you guys in this thread for all the info and bug reports on the XPS 15. I tore into them a bit but I don't think any of it was undue.

Very enjoyable and professional show Douglas. I would encourage laptop enthusiasts to listen in. This is much like talk radio, so you can tune in whilst working on other stuff.

Doug has spent hundreds of hours tweaking the XPS and that expertise shows. He has a bunch of other laptops so lots of helpful comparative info is consolidated into the show.
