After updating the BIOS and setting the maximum processor state to 90% in power management, my new XPS is now pretty much silent in laptop mode (at least with other than "best performance" power mode), but becomes quite hot from the top left corner of the keyboard even under no load. In the tent mode, it's the opposite: The fans start immediately when the display angle exceeds 180 degrees and keep the keyboard reasonably cool.

Is there any way to reverse this behavior? I would not mind a little bit of fan noise in the laptop mode if it meant cooler keyboard when I'm actually using it. On the other hand, in tent mode I don't care if the keyboard gets warm because I'm not touching it anyway, but the fan noise gets really annoying when the bottom of the laptop is not facing a table (the fans start to produce high-pitch whine immediately when I lift the laptop up).

I have tried both active and passive System Cooling Policy settings in power management, but did not notice any difference between those. The CPU is undervolted -130mV.
