What mess. I spilt some coffee. It must have gone down the trackpad, then keyboard started to go. Trackpad kept working. And the backlight.

So I took it fully apart, no joke its a full strip. The keyboard I realised is safe due to being covered in a clear rubber above the circuits. So I tried to ISO alcohol clean it. Put it back together, but I snapped 2 of the motherboard connector clips, so have tried to tape them back on.

Strangely the sound is plugged in correctly but no sound????

Should I bother trying to fix, or throw in the bin?

It cots me $120 due to being a late night ebay sale. Its a shame as it did more than some current ultrabooks especially gt630m inside. Im worried I have snapped the mother board clips and it will never work properly again?

Which motherboard clips did you snap? Are you sure coffee didn't go elsewhere and that's what's causing your issue with the sound? You can always take out the motherboard and clean the whole thing with iso alcohol and then let it dry for a few hours before trying to re-assemble it.

Sure that may be helpful. Also check your device manager to see if anything is flagged.

Thank you for the help, Is there any way to fix cables if the clips are broken.?

Problem with a lot of the tear downs they dont say what tyoe or clips are used. Its not always obvious ::-(

If it's just the clips that are broken to retain the cables, you can continue to use tape to hold the cables. Did any coffee get in the headphone jack? Perhaps try plugging in some headphones/speakers and unplugging it to see if your sound starts working. Does the sound card still show up in device manager?

Ok here we go, lots of pics. I know the first one is the trackpad but for some reason its now dead too. Whats odd is when I turn notebook on the backlight keys flash then it goes dark and keys are dead. What is the second purple connector I have taped?

Have I done the cmos battery correctly.?

What else could I have broke that impacts sound?

There is a clip with no ribbon in it, have i missed one? see the circled one next to the second purple I have taped.

Anyway do your best techies, help me out please, try and diagnose. I dont know why there is a spare unused cliip, I dont remember it in the tear down. I just wish they would label things so I know what Im breaking or fixing.
