    Hello,

All of a sudden, my screen is now flickering, goes from normal, to those pictures below... I have the i5, 8gb, 256gb, FHD display, 5 months old.
I'm thinking hardware issue, any thoughts?
And I've never dealt with Dell's support, would they change the unit?

    Thanks

    Chang

    Definitely a hardware issue.

Call Dell, have them take care of the support. On the phone, they will ask you to run some software-based diagnostics (which will of course fail to do anything except confirm it's a hardware issue). At that point, they will most likely send out a technician to replace the LCD panel and the ribbon cable used to connect it. If that doesn't fix the problem, then they will also need to replace the motherboard itself.

It's unfortunate that it happened. But the good news is that this isn't the first time something like this has happened; and it's relatively straightforward to diagnose and fix.

Thanks a lot kent1146 for this detailed answer.
Would you have an idea of the usual delays there is to have a technician sent over? I need all this to be fixed in a time frame of 3 weeks tops, otherwise I'd have to buy a new laptop...

You should be in pretty good shape. Check your warranty status on this page, by entering your service tag (and then going to Warranty info).
    http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19

It will tell you the duration and type of warranty that you have. If you have Dell Next-Day service, then they will send someone out onsite to your location within 1 day to do the hardware repair.
