I added this ppa repo to my sources.list, upgraded and my glx gears went from ~2870 to ~4880. This repo was recommended on the Ubuntu Forums for possible performance improvements. It's Xorg, so beware. (I've used it before with 9.04 and never had problems, Nvidia Quadro that time)

    Code:
    ## Bleeding Edge Xorg
    deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/xorg-edgers/ppa/ubuntu/ karmic main
    deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/xorg-edgers/ppa/ubuntu/ karmic main
    the key:

    Code:
    sudo apt-key adv --recv-keys --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com 8844C542
FWIW...I'm using Karmic 9.10 x64 on this Dell Vostro 1220 with an Intel x4500HD graphics card.

How's the performance increase? Any issues?

Sames results with Xubuntu x64 9.10. Added the repos on this Vostro, glxgears went Up from 3600 to 4800-5000. In Mint 32 (RC1) I was getting 2400 without the repos, and 2800 with. Mint 32 was a real dog for some reason, don't know how much was due to 32 bit though but it was incredibly slow on this machine. Can't see why it would be so much different that Ubuntu 64 9.10.
