I pre-ordered a 13.3" version because I think these are really nice looking laptops. Having owned several Xiaomi smartphones, I can say from experience that their products are of high quality. But as they are new in the world of notebooks, it will be a big gamble.

Any others interested in Xiaomi's notebook products?

@G-Force I like and respect Xiaomi as a brand, and am interested in their notebooks. While these devices don't meet my needs, they definitely stand out, especially the 13.3" one. It's specs, price tag and ease of maintenance make it a no-brainer recommendation for general public - unless it has some major flaw, that is, which we should know very soon.

I've seen some reports in the Chinese MIUI forums and so far there are not real big issues. The Core M version gets a bit hot (it's fanless) when playing games, but the 13" should be OK cooling wise.

I have to say, the cost of the machine for me is quite a bit higher (shipping, tax+import insurance) but still acceptable. Lenovo S710 (without dedicated GPU) would have cost me 849 euro, while this one costs 860 euro.

Still a big gamble though, if the device fails I will need to return it to China which is expensive... Still eager to try this machine.

    Can't please everyone. ;)

The 12.5" version is starting to become available, the 13.3" however is not at the moment.

So nobody bought one of these huh? ;) They are readily available right now. I cancelled my order because after waiting for ages it still was not in stock. I did re-order the 12.5" (€ 452 DHL shipping included) today as I don't need the specs anymore from the 13.3", it should arrive late this week or early next week after Christmas.

Probably a small spec bump to Kaby Lake. Don't expect availability on day one, it will take at least one month before they are in stock at resellers for high prices. Based on the past at least.

Found a $20 coupon to buy it (13.3") from Geekbuying for $779. How is it at that price?

The coupon is RVFKEWCW if anybody else was interested.

Down to $721 for the 13.3 at Banggood with the 12% Christmas coupon you can get hourly at their site. I was thinking about getting it, but Best Buy has the 15" Lenovo 710 with UHD 4K display, touch screen, Nvidia 940mx with 2GB, fingerprint sensor and core i7-7500u Kaby Lake for $764. It doesn't have USB-C, but doesn't make the Xiaomi seem like that good a deal anymore.
