Searching for posts does not seem to be collecting all results, it misses a lot of them out, say I search for the last 24 hours more results are in my recent posts than the regular search.

Have noticed that as well; search results seem case-sensitive and full-string only.

What I mean is say I search for posts using only my user name (no search term) and order by date it used to bring up all my previous posts (up to 20 pages) I could also filter by date. So all posts by myself in the last month say (which helps me keep track).

However that method (and any other I can find) is only showing about half the expected results, this is not delayed processing either, the other half will never show up.

We've increased the limit on the number of search results that can appear, so see if you are seeing more results now. If you have a really large number of posts, you may still not see everything you've posted, but you should see more.

Thanks for having a look brubenstein but that was not quite what I meant.

At least before the change (I assume it is more now) you could view up to 20 pages of results.

Now if you do an advanced search on my name with the following restrictions:

Keywords: (Leave field blank so all results)
    Posted by memberUser: Meaker
    New than: 1st September 2015
Search in forum: Sager and clevo
    (Tick search in child forums)

Performing that search should bring up all results posted by myself this month in those sections since the 1st of September.

This search produces 138 results (7 pages) and while this may seem a lot it falls far short of my actual total.

My guess (I don't know how xenforo works) is that it is not correctly indexing all posts for searching.

That is my experience as well; it doesn't return all posts. Even with a more narrowly-defined search (and less expected results) there are still posts missing.

For reference recent activity does show all posts that I have made.

Do the missing posts in search seem to be from a certain period of time (e.g. a few days in a row are missing), or is it completely random? We do know that some throttling may occur past a certain amount of results, but trying to determine what else is going on.
