Hi, I'm considering buying a Compaq X1000. I know the guy in the store and hopefully will get some extra goodies with it =)

I wondered if someone could give me some feedback if this is a good choice, or if there is some mayor problems with it I should be aware of.
How is the screen, noise level, heat, sturdyness, keyboard, batterylife ect.

    EDIT:
Another thing, which computer , in your opinion, give the most value for money:
    Compaq X1000
    or
    HP nx5000
with the same specs (ram, hd, dvd/cdrw) and the same price)

    Thanks in advance
    Magnus

hey umehume, it seems to me that most people that buy an x1000 end up really liking it, it has a loyal user base. Check out this site to talk to tons of people that already have the x1000

Personally, I'd recommend the X1000. It's give you more bang for the buck compared to the NX5000. Plus, I think you're gonna like the Wide Screen on the X1000.

Screen = Great, bright & clear
    Noise = fairly quiet
Heat = very good, unit gets slightly warm, but not bad
Sturdyness = pretty good, casing is mostly plastic
Keyboard = not bad, stiffer than my old Toshiba
    Battery Life = 3 to 3.5 hours

Thanks for the answers, ended up buying a X1000 and so far I'm very satisfied.
Nice keybord, excellent batterylife, it's fast and have good speakers.
Only problem is the wifi connectivity, it doesn't seem to pick up the signals as good as my friends computers. This is a small issue however, as I, when I need more speed, download through cable.

how long is your exact battery life? Mine is "horrible" (considering the promised 5 hours), just 3 hours.

    HP Compaq nx7010, 512 RAM, PM 1.5 Ghz, 64 MB ATI 9200, 40 GB 4200 rpm, WSXGA (1680x1050)

Keep in mind "promised" times are with wireless off and the screen dimmed.

I haven't used my computer on battery for more than 2 hours without plugging it in, but usually it has about 60% left after this time.
Normally I read documents, listen to music and surf the internet occasionally with wlan connection. One thing that really affects the batterylife is the brightness of the screen which I use to dim.
