The irony of it, I imagine, would be IPS glossy screen... but it may provide for a part number for the LCD panel that may be possible to retrofit.

Sorry, but I have very few details. It will be the same form factor as the X1 Carbon (not like the twist), but will be slightly heavier (3.5 pounds) and a little thicker. The webinar from the event where they discussed this will be available shortly (see Live Webinars | LPN | (US)). The 8gb X1 Carbon will also be available later this month.

    Thanks andrubuntu!

Should be a nice alternative for those that want the touch, but still have the X1 Carbon styling.

It might even interest me in canceling my X1 Carbon. On one hand, it could have a nicer IPS display. On the other, it's apparently heavier/thicker, and could be a gloss display. I'll wait to see more details. Anything on the refresh X1 Carbon with the i7/8GB and Win 8?

There will be something called ThinkPad Helix coming out in the future (annonced in a Lenovo event in Shanghai last week Friday), which has i7 CPU, 1080p resolution IPS in 11.6 inch LCD, with pen digitiser and removable screen that doubles as a tablet (like Surface Pro?)... you didn't hear it from me obviously... LOL

This sounds interesting. I hope the screen is matte. i7 CPU seems like an overkill though.

The screen has glass surface so it is glossy. Just google for the picture.

The only thing I'd be interested in is the 1080p display then. I guess I'll have to wait and see....

Thanks for posting that. The issue I had with my X1C was that the screen bezel protruded on it a bit. There is a whole different design for the touch model which shouldn't have the same problem. In addition, it looks better! The only deal breaker would be if it was a glossy display. From the pictures, it looks like an anti-glare like the original X1C.

I was working with a rep to replace my model with a Win 8 X1C, but now I might actually wait until the touch version. I'll wait to find out more information first though.

Edit: I'm not liking what I'm seeing here with the "Infinity Glass" from Lenovo. But then again, this is probably worst case scenario.

The X220 IPS is pretty nice otherwise. I just don't know what we'll get since it likely won't be an IPS display. I hope to find more out soon.

The coming X1 Carbon Touch screen looks very similar to the previous ThinkPad X1 with its Gorilla Glass sheet.

Is there any chance it would be a matte, anti-glare finish?

Yes, it does... almost like frosted glass. I noticed it's thicker and heavier.

If one had to speculate, would the Touch use the same TFT display but use the Infinity Glass and digitizer as separate layered assembly? Also, what's the chances that the Touch uses an IPS panel that could be retrofitted to the plain Jane X1 Carbon?
