As the title says, looking for an i7–920XM that can do at least 4GHz when overvolted.

That’s gonna be tough man. 920XM supply is already low with China pumping out fake chips, never mind finding somebody that pumped enough voltage into the chip to get 4+ GHz

China can now fake 920xm? Or just selling QS/ES as genuine?
Dunno but I kinda wish they fake the 920xm with improved 45nm or even 32nm process

Dead low tier quad core nehalem chips rebadged as 920XM. Several users in the M15x and M17x boards bought them and filed claims as a result of inop chips.

I was one of those people. Bought a OEM 920XM from US seller and it worked fine. 920XM from ebay seller didn't work.

I see... That's typical of pinduoduo
But when you purchase from feebay you are covered against those fraud right? Or feebay forcefully ask you spend $30 to send a $1 crap back to China?

I don’t know. It’s not me buying these chips, but others do. I make it a point not to deal with China/HongKong

I recently bought a 920XM from a local Australian seller on eBay but the new M15x board from Aliexpress crapped out after 2 weeks so I don't really have a machine to use it in now. I threw it in my second M15x and it seems to work fine. Haven't tried overclocking/overvolting it though and I put the 840QM back in it.
I'm just getting ready to sell the working M15x so I'm not going to waste the 920XM in her.
Is there a way to know if the chip is genuine/fake or are the fakes just DOA?
