I have a m17x R2. Should I sell this and get the M18x? What do you all think? I don't care about 3d.

Is there a reason you want to upgrade besides the new tech? If not than I would keep the r2 for a few more years.

I'd honestly love to keep the RGB screen and I like the size of the 17 inch. I just want the new video cards.

Are the 6970's compatible with the r2? if so it would be cheaper to buy a set and install yourself. I haven't checked so I don't know for sure but it's something to look into.

Hmmm, well the 5870's still seem to have a lot of power plus DX11. I guess if you absolutely need to have more than by all means get the new m18x.

Are there any games out that are really really going to utilize the extra power from dual 5870's to the dual 6970s?

I dont think the 6970 is compatible in the R2. I have yet to see one thread that confirms this and I have read nearly all of them. (sad I know)

You can always use extra GPU power. The X fire 6970 are great value and give you some serious firepower. How smooth they run is another question.

The charts show the X fire 6970's as dishing quite a hiding to most other setups. Only 480m/ 485M SLI beat them by about 15%. But compared to their price its no contest.

480m is weaker than the 6970m

The ONLY card that beats a 6970m is the 485m currently
