I just wanted to make a small contribution to this forum, since there are plenty of us that have that uncomfortable itch when one small thing ain't working, in most cases being the cursed card reader on our Rangers. Worry not! Although the main site of the Realtek is bugged up the butt, there is a way to access a proper driver for it that works under even the newest Windows 10 update so far. Took me a while to make everything in the Device Manager to look NEAT UND TIDY so I'll spare you all the hassle of looking for the damned driver, here it is:
    https://www.realtek.com/en/directly-download?downloadid=3511f2f5ece68bc08a4390ce4ba9a2f3

From my experience upgrading from 1909 to 2004 took it's toll and uninstalled it, so if you do that make sure that you right all the wrongs that (and possibly any other) update does, but it's possible to have everything running. After a few boot cycles and testing with different cards it's STILL running strong, so MrMogwai - 1, Microsoft - 0 :D

    It's right here:

Realtek Memory Card Reader Driver v10.0.19041.21339, A10

Make sure to right click on the file(s) you just downloaded, go to Properties, then hit Unblock from the bottom right as it may be blocked since it was downloaded from the internet, if you don't do this before you run the file or extract it, then it may not install correctly.

To prevent this automatic blocking of files in the future so you don't have to go unblocking every file you download to ensure it runs properly, follow the guide in this thread:

This is the driver that was causing the error 48 in Win10 (device was stopped because it was known forcausing errors, yadda yadda...). All i know at the moment (and I can't change the specs, I'm away from my machine right now) is that it works, it reads and writes to SD cards, so I count it as a win. Were there any other models in the Ranger?

    OP's 10.0.16299.28163 driver from Realtek's website works.
You can find 10.0.18362.28165 (I can't find anything newer) over at station-drivers. I don't know the source. It should work too.

QUICK UPDATE: The driver rollback issue didn't occur when upgrading 2004 to 20H2. So it's safe to assume that it's stable now :)
