    So...
I'm happy with Win 7 Ultimate, 64 bit, at this point. And, except for GPU, my hardware is mostly maxed out (Thanks again for all your help, and to UncleWebb for throttlestop). However, I was looking at the Dell page concerning Win 8, and the M15x doesn't show on the list.

I'm definitely not eager to upgrade until I see some advantage from doing so. However, I'm curious: Is the m15x compatible with Win 8, or not?

Can anyone think of a reason to want to upgrade?

    Thanks, folks,

    Joe

I think it's not. Because of the OSD, AlienCommandCenter, Bluetooth

Until the official release is done we won't get the drivers so we will need to wait until it's released.

Happy to report that M15X IS compatible with Win8. I have been using is since right before they released the RC ( Release Candidate ) and have had NO issues with it. I used the standard upgrade path built into the software and no issues. I did update all drivers once I moved over so that the system would have best chance. :D:D:D

I'm running Windows 8 Pro RTM (from technet) and it's working perfectly.

OSD and AlienFX are working perfectly. I did a complete fresh install though. :)

Thanks for the information. Once you have had a chance to use it for a while, let us know if you're glad you made the change. For those of us with a lot of installed software, a fresh install is a serious PITA.

Thank you all for your insights! I'm starting my Windows 8 install.

Oh, by the way: there is a Nvidia driver for the GTX 460M for Windows 8: NVIDIA DRIVERS 306.23WHQL

OK, I just finished the installation.

I did a clean instalation of Windows 8 Enterprise 64 bits.
It does not work the CIR (Infra Red... so I don't care) and the BT drivers.
Also, I did not try the Alienware Command Center.
